Top 5 SCOM Integration Tools

If you’re looking to integrate SCOM with your other IT applications your main drivers are probably centered around; increasing efficiency, improving stakeholder engagement, and smashing your incident response times!

We suspect you won’t have time to build a DIY integration solution! As not only do you need to be super confident at coding, but if you have a team of IT admins it will need to be user-friendly too. Build it yourself solutions also need to stand the test of time as your business grows, otherwise, you can get caught up in constantly bolting on new features and functions. So, despite this being the cheapest way to integrate your tools, unless you have loads of time on your hands and are a PowerShell pro, we recommend you check out some of the other integration options on the market instead.

Our Top 5 SCOM Integration Tools

1) MS Power Automate

Power Automate is the perfect tool for administrators wanting to automate day-to-day tasks and workflows, with the ability to build automations using hundreds of pre-built connectors, this is a great low-code tool to integrate all your systems.  This means that although it provides the key elements, you’ll still need to do some coding to integrate it with SCOM. It is also compatible with mobile and desktop meaning you can deliver or receive notifications, updates, and analytics wherever you are.  There is a free trial option, but final costs are based on the number of users, level of functionality and/or the number of workflows, so it really comes down to how you plan to use it.

2)     MS Logic Apps

Microsoft’s suite of integration tools also includes MS Logic Apps, unlike Power Automate which is aimed at day-to-day tasks Logic Apps is for those who want to automate complex business processes. This solution takes automation a step further, using containerized deployment for your operational workflows, so you can run them anywhere; locally, on-prem and in the cloud, using Azure Virtual Network. Once again there is a free trial and then PAYG pricing based on usage.

However, there is currently no official connector for MS SCOM in either Power Automate or Logic Apps, so you would need to do some complex coding to integrate your SCOM alerts.

3)     Ziggiwave ZigiOps
ZigiOps provides an impressive spectrum of apps that can be interconnected to transfer bi-directional data between your ITSM, Monitoring, Cloud, DevOps, and CRM tools. Combining this with their powerful UI, mapping, and filtering options you can take full control of your IT systems.  Unlike other products on the market, this solution is easy to tailor and scale to your specific business needs.

But this flexibility comes with a reasonably high price tag, with the integration of your first two systems starting at €9,000/year and then ramping up from there depending on how many tools you want to integrate.

The only downside is that like many integration platforms there are still a lot of apps missing, and MS SCOM is one of these, so for SCOM users unfortunately this is not a code-free option for you yet…

4)     Kelverion System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH)

Kelverion’s integration packs discover the configuration of your targeted tools and provide a simple forms-based interface as the foundation for a runbook design. So, whilst it is possible to integrate SCOM with several other IT systems you are limited by the number of connection packs available (~40), most of which are on-prem. Plus, setup can be time-consuming, as this is a clunky process requiring you to bolt together quite a few tools and configure some of the data yourself. You will also need a SCORCH license before you can get started. So, although the final product offers a reasonable level of integration and automation, it is certainly not the most user-friendly option on the market.
