Previously this year Microsoft announced that the Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) release for System Center has been discontinued, this also means that the support is running out for the latest release of the System Center Semi-Annual Channel soon.
The first release of the System Center Semi-Annual Channel also known as “SAC” was the 1801 version, which was made available in February 8, 2018.
The second release of SAC which is also the final release, is the 1807 version which was made available in July 24, 2018.
The Semi-Annual Channel was aimed for for customers who innovate quickly, the goal was to have two releases per year, each release would include bug fixes, new features and various enhancements.
Semi-Annual Channel releases have 18 months of support from the date of public availability, so as of writing this post, the current and only supported version is the 1807 version.
The table below illustrates the version history and support dates for the SAC releases:
Version | Availability Date | Support End Date |
---|---|---|
1801 | February 8, 2018 | ![]() 18 months after release date. |
1807 | July 24, 2018 | January 24, 2020. ![]() 18 months after release date. |
System Center 1801 has been out of support since August 8, 2019, that leaves the 1807 version left, as of today it only has 4 months of support left!
For everyone out there still using any of the System Center Semi-Annual Channel releases, I would strongly recommend that you start planning an upgrade or migration as soon as possible!
